Beatrix - Zoya

Hi all!

So I am clearly still working on this whole blogging and life thing. Bear with me, I will eventually learn how to juggle this. Anywho, let me show you what I am wearing. Yet another PixieDust - these are just too perfect when I'm busy because of the awesome wear time.

This is 'Beatrix' and ooooooo Mama she is a stunner. I have had so many comments on this polish since wearing it! The shade of orange of 'Beatrix' is not just a regular orange. It's a soft orange in some ways, but the gold glitters make it such a vivid eye-catcher (I am fully aware that I don't make a lot of sense). Love it!

'Beatrix' was ever so slightly less opaque than a lot of the PixieDusts I have tried in the past, but 2-3 coats was still enough for full opacity. As usual, 'Beatrix' was a breeze to apply and is wearing very well.

Polished by KPT - Permanganate & Dichromate

Hi everyone!!

I have my last Polished by KPT post for you today. This post is of another 2 thermals, 'Permanganate' and 'Dichromate', both from the Transition Elements collection. No surprises, these are another 2 that are GORGEOUS!!

Permanganate

This is 'Permanganate' which is a thermal & chrome polish. The transition is from a beautiful icy blue when warm, to a rich purple leaning blue, almost indigo, when cold.

These pictures show 'Permanganate' transitioning from hot at the top through to cold in the bottom photo. I absolutely adore the finish of this polish, the slight chrome affect catches the light so beautifully giving it a real x-factor in my opinion (and perfect with these colours in particular).

Dichromate

'Dichromate' is an equally beautiful thermal chrome polish. This one is just perfect for the autumn weather we are having at the moment. I absolutely love this fiery polish. The gold, coarse shimmer again gives this polish that little extra something.

Again, the top photo shows Dichromate in cold temperatures and the bottom photo is cold (look at the shimmery goodness against the orange!).


Both of these polishes were lovely to work with. Easy to apply and nicely opaque – 2-3 coats was plenty for me. Both of these were very sensitive to temperature changes and were constantly changing and often seen to be the most wonderful gradient between the 2.

Polished By KPT - Dark Angels & Liquid Gold

I have the last 2 Polished By KPT polishes to show you today. I have one foil chrome effect polish and one holographic effect polish. First up 'Liquid Gold'.

'Liquid Gold'

'Liquid Gold' is a gorgeous pale, almost champagne gold colour and it is full of more yellow gold irregular flakes. I tend to stay away from gold polish mostly because I am so pale, but still with yellow undertones so I don't suit a lot of golds (though I only wear gold jewellery… weird…), but this one is light enough that it was really pretty. I like how the flakes give the polish a sort of gilded effect, it's so Christmassy to me.

'Dark Angels'

Now for a real favourite of mine! This is 'Dark Angels' and it is a holographic beauty. When I first opened up my parcel from Katherine, I saw this and knew I'd love it - dark + holographic is always going to equal love for me - but it was once I put it on, I got a pleasant surprise. At certain angles, there is a slate/blue look to this polish, then on extreme angles it shines red! I love that this is so much more than a black holo, basically I love a polish that can surprise me.


Both of these were, as usual, easy to apply. I used 3 coats for both. 'Dark Angels' was a little thicker (not at all in a bad way), so potentially if you use thinner coats than I did, you may need 4 coats. 'Liquid Gold' was also perfectly smooth after one normal coat of top coat.

Jinx - OPI

WOOOhooooo 3 exams down and one to go! Cannot wait to be free. So soon! Anyways, I have a super quick post today and it is OPI 'Jinx' from the Bond Girls Liquid Sand collection. This is the perfect exam polish. It wears like… something that stays on for a really long time. I've had this baby on since last Saturday and it still looks as good as new a week later.

So pretty! I know, I am so late to jump on the textured polish bandwagon. But oh-boy I want them all now. So pretty! Plus I keep just feeling my nails (I know you all do that too!).

'Jinx' was really really easy to use. I sometimes forget how much I love OPI brushes and then I use one again and it's just the right size. I used 2 coats for full opacity on my left hand, but as usual I popped another coat on my right hand to make everything even for the photos.

Which textured polishes are your favourites? I am keen to try more of the OPI Liquid Sands like this and also some Zoya's.

Kismet - Color Club

Holy moly, where does time go?! I forgot to post yesterday! Well tonight I have a couple of pics of Color Club 'Kismet'. Depending on how long you've been following me, you may or may not know that my middle name is in fact Kismet (much to my friends' amusement when I was younger). Due to its meaning, which I love, I also have Kismet tattooed on my wrist, so naturally I HAD to have this polish and I finally got it a few weeks back (see this Color Club 'Halo Hues' mani).

I love it. We all should know by now that holos are my weakness in life (along with multichromes). I love ALL THE HOLOS! 'Kismet' is a really pretty soft gold that is really wearable. It appears to almost have a slight olive/green cast to it that I really like.

Formula was really easy with 'Kismet' too. I used 2 coats with a regular base coat and these pictures are also with top coat (as you can see the holo effect is still outrageously brilliant).

As You Wish - Dollish Polish & a Bit of a Skittlette

How are you all? Yesterday I received the polishes I ordered from the new Dollish Polish collection based on The Princess Bride. I had to get some of them because of the inspiration alone. What a classic movie. In fact, I watched it again last night. Naturally, the first polish I had to try was 'As You Wish', but as soon as I saw them, I knew that it would need to be paired up with 'Hello, My Name Is Inigo Montoya' (does everyone else say the end of that quote every time they see the name of that polish?). I did a bit of a skittlette with 'As You Wish'. If you don't know what a skittlette mani is, make sure you hop over to ChitChatNails. The wonderful Marta, one of my favourite bloggers, coined the term and her skittlettes are always so beautiful.

This is my first skittlette attempt and I'm digging how it turned out, albeit slightly Australian feeling. I love, love, love the look of 'Hello My Name Is Inigo Montoya' over top of 'As You Wish'. It's just one coat and it gives such a beautiful olive colour. For the stamp, I used a-england 'Saint George' and the LeaLaC XL-B plate. On my index and pinky fingers I have a couple of glequins from Born Pretty Store.

I love 'As You Wish'. Surprised? Nope, not a bit. It's a gorgeous olive leaning gold holo. I find it difficult to wear gold often, but 'As You Wish' is a really soft gold and very wearable. The olive undertones also help with the wearability in my opinion.


'As You Wish' is a little bit sheer, but over all really easy to work with. Shown is 3 coats and in the photos you can see a wee bit of VNL, but it's perfectly fine in real life for me. I didn't use any special base coat for this polish either, just my usual Duri 'Rejuvacote' and Cult Nails 'Get It On' combination (these are my absolute holy grail strengthener and base coat by the way). The photos of 'As You Wish' alone are without top coat.


'As You Wish' and 'Hello, My Name Is Inigo Montoya' are available from Dollish Polish (at least they are available at this very moment). Mean Mr Mustard - Enchanted Polish & 1-Up - Dollish Polish

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I thought I better show you what I wore for St Patrick's Day yesterday. I didn't have time to create anything for it this time, but I had just the polish to fit the bill that has a perfect green-gold shift to it. This is Enchanted Polish 'Mean Mr Mustard'.

'Mean Mr Mustard' is one of those magical multichrome polishes that Enchanted Polish is just so darn good at. And just like others, I couldn't cut down the number of photos to show you, so take this as your friendly warning ;)

Austin Powers - Enchanted Polish (and a very late blog birthday!)

I missed my blog's anniversary!!! Which is typical to be honest, as I don't ever look at the date if I'm not at uni, so I generally forget birthdays as I never know what day it is :s Anyway... My little blog was 1 year old on January 18th. Thanks so much to everyone who pops by here to look at my posts!

For today's post, I wanted to show you something that I love from one of my most favourite indie brands, which works out well for my very late anniversary post. This is Enchanted Polish 'Austin Powers' over Lime Crime 'Milky Ways'...

I went to a wedding recently and wore this combination as my accent nail with some studs and I loved it so much I came straight home to Auckland and put it on as a full mani. If you follow me on instagram (@pinpointpolish), you may have seen the mani. 'Austin Powers' is one of those polishes that, if layered, is usually over a darker colour, but I actually love it over the pale cream of 'Milky Ways'.

These two photos show 'Austin Powers' in full sunlight. MMMMmmmmmm pure holo goodness. I have to say, when it comes to holographic (and multichrome) polish, there aren't many who do it as well as Enchanted Polish (hence them being an absolute favourite of mine).

The gold of 'Austin Powers' becomes much more obvious in these photos taken in artificial lighting. The linear holo effect is really apparent, which I love. Even indoors.

Let's just have a little closer look at this little baby. You can see that there are little coppery-gold glitters all through it, as well as the ton of holo. Brilliant!


This is one (yes one!) thick-ish coat of 'Austin Powers' and so this polish could easily be worn on its own. It does layer beautifully though. Formula was really easy to work with.

Now for the unfortunate part of this post... I don't think this polish is available in any shops, as it was just recently brought back in a very limited quantity. I know some of you don't like bloggers posting polish that isn't readily available, but this blog was started for me to show you guys what I wear on a day to day basis. Basically, if this polish ever makes another come-back, snaffle it up ASAP because it is such a beauty!

The Electric Apple: NYC - Takko Lacquer

It's Takko Lacquer time again! I've got another GORGEOUS shimmer to show today by the name of 'The Electric Apple: NYC'...

'The Electric Apple: NYC' is a grey polish with a metric truck load of shimmer in it. Just like 'Wanderlust', the golden shimmer is far from shy and is visible in most lighting.

I love the clean concrete grey of 'The Electric Apple: NYC' and I think the shimmer warms it up just enough for me to wear it easily with my ghostly white skin. Basically I think this is a really versatile polish.

Look at that shimmer!! The colour of it is just perfect, with an almost green hue to the yellow gold. I love this polish so much!!


Another piece of good news? 'The Electric Apple: NYC' barely needs more than one coat! It's incredibly opaque which is amazing for such a pale colour. Just like 'Wanderlust' though, the opacity clearly doesn't hide the shimmer. I used two coats for these photos just to ensure that everything was nice and even. 'The Electric Apple: NYC' is reasonably thick, but not unmanageable at all. It does dry to a matte finish so a lick of top coat is needed to really make that shimmer glow.

Every Month Is Oktoberfest - OPI

I managed to get my hands on two amazing polishes from OPI's Germany collection that has just been released, so today I'll be showing you the first of them. 'Every Month Is Oktoberfest' is one that I knew I had to have the minute I saw it popping up on all my favourite blogs. Turns out it is even more beautiful than I could have imagined in real life.

This is just such a delicious vampy shade. MMMMMMMM I love it! It is infact an indigo, purpley blue base with a ridiculous (ridiculously good) amount of shimmer. I think it's all red shimmer, but it seems to shift a little bit to gold in certain lighting. The blue of the base is really obvious on the first coat, but disappears quite a lot on the second coat. Even though it's less obvious, it still gives this polish a perfect little something extra in my opinion, that hint of underlying indigo is what makes this polish jump to the top of my favourite vampy polish list.

This shimmer was so hard to capture in all its glory. These photos show a little taste of the bright red glow that this beauty has. I decided to add a little stamping and so I tried a couple more designs from my new Bundle Monster plates. Both these designs are from plate BM-313. I used Barry M 'Gold Foil' to stamp and I think the gold played well with 'Every Month Is Oktoberfest'.

You can see here that slightly gold shift. The corners of my top two fingers are showing the base colour. I'm not quite sure why this is so obvious here. It must be a slightly thinner bit of application, but I looked and looked and could not see this blue in real life! Strange.

The formula on this was also lovely. One coat gives really good coverage and the second coat just deepens everything and gives the polish that beautiful glow. 'Every Month Is Oktoberfest' is not too thick or thin and has a perfect self-levelling formula, applying like butter. I can't say enough how much I love this polish and it really has to be seen in real life to fully appreciate it. As for the plate, BM-313, no problem at all! Both images picked up and transferred really easily. I am still a bit of a newbie when it comes to stamping, but I figure practice makes perfect and maybe one day I can learn to not panic every time I attempt it - you should see me, as soon as I've picked up the image, my heart starts beating FAST and it's panic station. I have to admit I tried to do my pinky finger one and missed literally 2/3 of my nail with the first stamp!

For the Kiwi's, I got this at Life Pharmacy and there is a buy two, get one free deal at the moment. I think OPI's cost around $25 at pharmacies so they're a bit cheaper than Farmers and made even better by the special deal :)

I also want to say that I have been nominated by two lovely ladies for a Liebster Award. I received one from Nicola from Always Trust The Gene Genie and the second nomination was from GelaNails. They both do some gorgeous nail art! I am absolutely swamped at uni at the moment but I have a mid-semester break in a couple of weeks so I will try and answer the questions etc then :) Thanks again ladies!

Kismet Elated - Sinful Colors

My Mum is so cute! She sent me a little parcel the other day with a polish in it for me that she's had put away for a little while. It is a Sinful Colors polish called 'Kismet Elated' and the reason this is special for me is because Kismet is actually my middle name. I've gone through most of my life HATING this name with everything I have, until several years ago when I learnt its meaning and I have since loved it. I have always been a believer in fate and basically "if it's meant to be, it will be" and that's essentially what Kismet means :) Anyway, naturally I put the polish straight on so here you go...

'Kismet Elated' is gorgeous. A really pretty pinky purple with an insane amount of rose gold shimmer (reminds me a lot of OPI's 'Rally Pretty Pink' but with fine shimmer instead of coarse glittery shimmer). When I first started applying this pretty, I thought uh-oh frosty looking shimmer, but nope, no such worry!

I love the shimmer! This polish isn't one I'd typically gravitate towards and who would've known I'd enjoy it so much. Thanks Mum!

When I first put this on, all I could think of was grandma colour (in the best possible way - I love me a nana colour every now and then), so what better to add to it than PAISLEY!! I just received the new Bundle Monster plates earlier in the week and I've been dying to give them a go and so far so fantastic. The stamping was really easy (even for a rookie). I used Barry M 'Gold Foil' with BM315 for the stamping. The design on my pinky finger is slightly blurred due to my awesome twisting motion that I've added to the rolling motion - DOH!

The design's pretty detailed but like I said, easy to stamp. Hopefully this is how all the designs on the new plates are going to be :)


'Kismet Elated' is fairly sheer but entirely able to be built up. I actually only used two thin coats and you can see VNL, but the large amount of shimmer made it much less obvious in real life. If you are a stickler for no VNL then I think three coats would be perfect.

Fast Track - China Glaze

I've got for you all today a beauty that I know has been on pretty much every blog already, but I figure the hype has settled a bit now, so I may as well throw my piece in too. This is China Glaze's 'Fast Track' from The Hunger Games 'Capitol Colors' released just recently.

From the very first moment I saw the previews of this collection on all the blogs, this was by far the colour that I was most excited about (weird I know). I love neutral shades and the gold in this just made my heart skip a beat every time it popped onto my screen! When this beauty arrived at my door, it was even better in real life! I LOVE this polish!!!

'Fast Track' reminds me of those suede couches where if you brush the fabric one way it changes colour. I used to love visiting people with these couches and making all sorts of pretty patterns! The simple things in life ay?! Anyway 'Fast Track' is a gorgeous soft beige colour with that kind of glitter/flake/glass fleck that I love!

In lower indoor ambient light, the polish deepens slightly and somehow the gold becomes more apparent! Now this polish reminds me of cashmere. 'Fast Track' represents District 6 (transportation), but it makes me think of District 8 (textiles) lots! Best thing about this polish... the gold never becomes lost!

I love this type of finish but I just don't know how to describe it! And I also love that 'Fast Track' is jam-packed with these little glass flecks/flakes/glitters.

The formula on this polish was also perfect! I used two coats on my left hand and it was opaque to the naked eye, but I did a third coat on my right hand for photo purposes as the macro settings on my camera love to make polish look like it's less opaque! Overall we have a major winner! I used a-england's 'The Knight' as my base coat and Essie 'Good To Go' on top.

Indigo Illusion - Nubar

I simply cannot get enough of multichrome and holo polishes at the moment! I used to be a crème lover and I still am, but I'm now getting into all sorts of things, including (shock horror) glitters! Anywho... I have a multichrome polish from Nubar to show you today. This is 'Indigo Illusion'...

'Indigo Illusion' is mainly blue/purple shifting, but you will soon see that there's a lot more to this polish than that!

In the sun, 'Indigo Illusion' shows off a subtle silver shimmer that just adds to the appeal of this polish. You can begin to see the greeny shift starting to appear around the sides of my nails.

Continuing on the tour of the colours of this beauty... Here's a taste of the green and gold with the purple. The shifts in this polish are a bit clearer and more defined in real life and as always, you need to see this polish with your own eyes to get its full glory.

A little more gold...

And finally, at extreme angles you get the full force of the green/gold shift. 'Indigo Illusion' is such a chameleon of a polish. I love polishes that change so much it looks like you're wearing a whole different polish in some lights.


Formula wise... When I started putting 'Indigo Illusion' on, I have to say I was a bit worried... It was super sheer and patchy. I thought for sure it was going to need a LOT of coats. Turns out it built up nicely and these photos show 3 coats, which I think is pretty decent! I would say you have to be a little bit careful with brush strokes but not overly so. This polish is really thin so it spreads nice and easily.
When I ordered this polish I got a few other Nubar multichromes and I'm so glad I did! I'll show you the other three soon no doubt (weather permitting now that we are well and truly heading towards those cloudy winter months).
