Takko Lacquer – Dazed and Confused (i.e. I'm back baby!!)

Press Sample

Hi guys!

Good news, my wrist is heading towards being better. It still hurts a bit when I'm taking photos, but not enough to stop me anymore. So I'm back! It's going to take me a while to get back into the swing of things, but I'm looking forward to it. So to kick off again, I have a gorgeous multichrome polish from Takko Lacquer – 'Dazed and Confused'.

Dazed and confused, takko lacquer, swatch
'Dazed and Confused' is a perfect multichrome. The colours are so rich, making this polish a definite favourite for me. The scattered holo adds that little extra wow and with the blackened colour at extreme angles this polish can appear like galaxy nails with no nail art skill required :) (see my pinky in the photo above).

The main colour of this polish in normal light is a royal purple with flashes of blue. I found it difficult to capture the rich purple under my lighting setup even though this was how 'Dazed and Confused' appeared more often than not.

The colour changes of this polish are not shy and there are many. It goes from purple and blue through to a rich rusty red, to cranberry and at extreme angles through to bright orange/copper. Need I say more as to why this is a must-have polish?

On to the formula… In true Takko Lacquer style, this polish was simple to apply. Depending on how thick your coats are, I would say 2-3 coats would suffice. This polish wore really well on me too, lasting a good 5 days or so.

Make sure you check out Sheryl's blog to find out about the inspiration behind her polishes, along with other updates. Also keep an eye on Takko Lacquer's twitter and instagram for info about restocks etc. Takko Lacquers are sold from their own shop, but only with US shipping. Takko Lacquer - Dark Paradise

Press Sample

Hi all!!

I hope everyone has had a lovely and safe Christmas and New Year! We are visiting my family in Wellington and it's so nice to be home. I haven't been able to paint my nails much lately as my wrist is still immobilised, but I let it out of my brace to take these pictures. Also please excuse the still slightly broken nails, it is taking me a while to get on top of it all. Anywho… this is the ridiculously gorgeous Llarowe-exclusive polish by Takko Lacquer'Dark Paradise'.

Takko Lacquer Dark Paradise, Llarowe, swatch
'Dark Paradise' has a beautiful deep, but very sheer, inky base and is packed full of multi chromatic flakie glitter. The flakes change from red to gold and blue to green, with all the shades in between. Pictured here is one coat over a-england 'Queen of Scots'. I actually wore this mani for New Years as it reminded me of fireworks.

Takko Lacquer Dark Paradise, Llarowe, swatch

Takko Lacquer Dark Paradise, Llarowe, swatch
In lower light, the more copper tones peek through the blackened blue base. In bright light and more extreme angles, this polish really comes alive – bright green and red glow from your nails. 'Dark Paradise' was stupidly difficult to capture (even after 100-odd photos) and so you will just have to take my word that you NEED this polish.

As I mentioned, this polish is jam-packed with flakes and so you can easily control how much you have on the nail. I think it would be relatively easy to build up. I didn't experience any dragging or anything, however one thing I noticed was that even after 2 coats of top coat, my nails were still slightly textured. I think a thicker top coat would be recommended.

KBShimmer - Shade Shifter & Rollin' With The Chromies

Press Sample

Hi Hi!

Sorry for the absence. Long story short, I accidentally ate something I'm quite severely intolerant to and as such have spent the last few days in a very sorry state in bed. In fact I'm still in bed while I write this to try and rest up for work tonight.

Anyway, enough about that, today I have the last 2 multichromes that were recently released in the Winter 2013 collection by KBShimmer (see my previous 2 posts here and here). The last 2 that I am showing you are 'Shade Shifter' & 'Rollin' With The Chromies'.

Shade Shifter, KBShimmer, swatch

Shade Shifter, KBShimmer, swatch

Shade Shifter, KBShimmer, swatch
'Shade Shifter' is gorgeous, it goes mainly between electric blue and purple, but every now and then a cranberry red colour appears in the mix and then at extreme angles a beautiful copper/gold comes out. As with the other 2 non-holo multichromes that I've shown you ('Pigment Of My Imagination' and 'Urban Camo') the shift is very strong and seems to look different every time I look at my nails.

This is the holo sister to 'Shade Shifter' aka 'Rollin' With The Chromies'. It has similar shifts to 'Shade Shifter' but the shifts are a little bit subtler and there is added holo goodness. I love this polish - are you surprised? Holo and multichrome… Mmmmmm.

The formula of these was simlar to the previous ones, both were very easy to apply. 'Rollin' With The Chromies' is shown with 3 coats, but you may or may not be able to get away with 2 if you use thicker coats. 'Shade Shifter' on the other hand is fairly sheer. I used 5 coats, but I would have left it at 4 coats if not for the lighting. If you use thicker coats, of course you could use less coats or on the other hand you could use 1 or 2 coats of this over black to get a similar result.

KBShimmer is available from a number of places in the USA, have a look at the Locations page for a shop or event near you. For us international ladies, check out Harlow & Co (free shipping on international orders over $75!).

Urban Camo & Pretty In Punk - KBShimmer

Press Sample

HI!

I have 2 more KBShimmer multichromes to show you today that were just recently released as part of the Winter 2013 collection (you can see the first 2 here). This time is 'Urban Camo' and 'Pretty In Punk'. These are again the holo and non-holo versions of each other and they are GORGEOUS!

Urban Camo, KBShimmer, swatch

Urban Camo, KBShimmer, swatch
The shift in this polish is SO strong. These pictures show a pretty good summary of the shifts in 'Urban Camo'. Right from a greyed out green through bright green, aqua, blue, right through to bright purple. I love this polish.

Urban Camo, KBShimmer, swatch
Straight on, in regular light, 'Urban Camo' appears mostly green. Sometimes it has quite a silvery cast, but in brighter light it becomes the most vivid jewel green.

Pretty In Punk, KBShimmer, swatch

Pretty In Punk, KBShimmer, swatch
'Pretty In Punk' has basically got the same colour shifts as 'Urban Camo', but they tend to be just ever so slightly muted due to the holo. That is in no way a bad thing as the holo really brings this polish alive. As with 'Myth You Lots' the holo is scattered, but linear. It's not shy, but it is also not obnoxiously in your face. Beautiful.

Pretty In Punk, KBShimmer, swatch

Pretty In Punk, KBShimmer, swatch
Again, 'Pretty In Punk' mainly appears green. The bottom picture shows that greyed out green I mentioned with 'Urban Camo'. This polish also gets that gorgeous bright green, but this time with the added bonus of holo.

Both of these polishes applied easily. 'Urban Camo' is slightly sheer, but 3 coats gives full opacity (though as usual I have used an extra coat for the purpose of these photos). Depending on how thick you apply your coats, 'Pretty In Punk' could be opaque in 2-3 coats - I used 3 in these photos. One thing I will suggest is to wait a few minutes between coats when applying 'Urban Camo'. If I didn't let it dry enough, I got just a small amount of pulling or dragging, not too bad though.

Pigment Of My Imagination & Myth You Lots - KB Shimmer

Press Sample

Hi!!

I have the new KB Shimmer multichromes to show you and I thought I might do them in their pairs. In the new Winter 2013 collection, there is a non-holo and a holo version of each of these multichromes. Let me start by saying, the shift on all of these is so strong and so beautiful. I'm starting today with 'Pigment Of My Imagination' and 'Myth You Lots'. Fair warning - there are quite a few pictures in this post :)

'Pigment Of My Imagination'
Pigment of my Imagination, KB Shimmer, swatch
This is 'Pigment Of My Imagination'. There are so many colours that this polish shifts to. Let's have a look through them all.

Pigment of my Imagination, KB Shimmer, swatch

Pigment of my Imagination, KB Shimmer, swatch
Most commonly, in normal lighting, 'Pigment Of My Imagination' shows as purple or blue. This electric blue comes out in slightly brighter light.

Pigment of my Imagination, KB Shimmer, swatch

At certain angles, 'Pigment Of My Imagination' becomes a beautiful pink or even a cranberry, almost red colour. So rich and beautiful.

Pigment of my Imagination, KB Shimmer, swatch
At extreme angles, the most intensely beautiful copper comes out. It appears like a gorgeous burnt orange in this photo, but in the first photo you can see how bright and golden it can appear. This is my favourite side of this polish, when that suddenly catches your eye as you move about.

'Myth You Lots'
Myth You Lots, KB Shimmer, swatch

Myth You Lots, KB Shimmer, swatch

Myth You Lots, KB Shimmer, swatch

Myth You Lots, KB Shimmer, swatch
This is 'Myth You Lots'. It has the same shifts as 'Pigment Of My Imagination', but with holo in it. I love this one so much. The holo is that linear, but a little scattered type that I love. It's quite present even in lower lights. The holo pigment lightens the polish up a little.

The formula of both of these was very easy to work with. Nice and thin, so spreads easily, doesn't pull and levels well. 'Pigment Of My Imagination' is a bit sheer, so I thought I may need to layer it over black. In the photos 2 of my fingers are 2 coats over black, and 2 of my fingers are 4 coats. I left it at 3 coats on my left hand and that was actually opaque. Basically, I don't think you need to layer them, as you can't actually tell the difference. 'Myth You Lots' is opaque at 2 thick-ish coats, but I have on 3 in these photos.

Octopus's Garden - Enchanted Polish

Boy, do I have a pretty polish to show you today. A good old Enchanted Polish multichrome. The more I wear these, the more I think Chelsea is some sort of evil genius! How does she put so many colours in one polish. Seriously! HOW?!

Octopus's Garden, Enchanted Polish, swatch
'Octopus's Garden' has a ridiculous amount of colours. I don't really know where to start. I think the most prominent colour you see in normal lighting is this royal purple colour seen in this picture. Ironically, it was the most difficult colour for me to capture. I love the shift to copper. It makes me think of a sunset at the beach.

Octopus's Garden, Enchanted Polish, swatch

Here are the main shifts that I could see. 'Octopus's Garden' shifts include blue, purple, a pinky cranberry colour and the copper/orange. The shift is always wonderfully strong, to the point where The Boy looked down at my nails at one point and asked me what new polish I'd put on. It's like wearing a new polish each time you walk into a different room.

Octopus's Garden, Enchanted Polish, swatch
At certain angles, 'Octopus's Garden' becomes really blackened. I love this side of it so much too and the holo pops against the dark side of it too. Plus look at that electric blue would you!

Octopus's Garden, Enchanted Polish, swatch

A little close-up and a bit of a summary shot to finish with... Just because.

Formula was brilliant and easy. I used 3 thin coats for these photos and I had no problems at all.

I know, I know, gush gush gush. But I love these multichromes so much that I can't even explain. I am dying to get my hands on the new ones, but these days the restocks are just too damn hard to deal with (especially living on the other side of the world), but I will getting my greedy fingers on them eventually.

Speaking of restocks, if you are quick, you can get Enchanted Polish from a few different places. I have bought all of mine from either Harlow & Co. or Llarowe, but they are available from other places too. Be sure to check out the Enchanted Polish website for their restocks too.

I Am The Walrus - Enchanted Polish

I can't even wait to show you today's post! It's one I've had for a while and have used a couple of times. Putting 'I Am The Walrus' on yesterday once again reminded me why Chelsea from Enchanted Polish is the master of all things multichrome. I'm pretty sure she is magic in some way...

I Am The Walrus, Enchanted Polish, Swatch

I Am The Walrus, Enchanted Polish, Swatch
I am just going to start with these photos because... well just look! This polish is like molten something. I don't know, I can't even put words together. Anyways I will take you through the colour changes. There are a fair few photos. You have been warned ;)

Ok. From the top. I love the pinky nail in that top photo, 'I Am The Walrus' becomes a most gorgeous purpley pink, cranberry colour in some light. It goes from there right through orange, all the way to a yellow and almost green at extreme angles.

I Am The Walrus, Enchanted Polish, Swatch

The shift is so strong and pretty. I love how the colours get richer in lower light.

One last look at the holo. It's quite prominent in 'I Am The Walrus' which is awesome. The holo is that kind that is scattered, but linear at the same time.

As you can see, there is good reason why Enchanted Polish is my all time most favourite brand. It's been a little while since I've worn one of my Enchanted Polish multichromes and I missed them! As usual, the formula was lovely too. I used 3 coats, but depending on how thick you like your coats, you might get away with 2.

Enchanted Polish is available from lots of places online. I generally purchase mine from Harlow & Co. but they are also available from Llarowe and Mei Mei's Signatures and of course from Enchanted Polish.
